Smallholder farmers in Zambia often face significant harvest losses due to inadequate post-harvest storage solutions and lack of access to reliable irrigation systems. The project aims to address these issues, which are crucial for enhancing agricultural productivity and economic development in the region.

Ndkay offers solar-powered cold rooms and irrigation systems designed to be energy efficient and affordable for smallholder farmers. The technology is innovative in its approach to making renewable energy solutions accessible to rural farming communities.

Since its establishment in 2009, Ndkay has made substantial progress, installing over 15 solar cold rooms, 150 irrigation systems, and more than 50 solar home systems. The company has a clear expansion plan to increase its customer base and aims to grow revenues by over 20% CAGR to reach USD 1.1M by 2028.

Ndkay's initiatives are expected to enhance both the quality and quantity of agricultural yields, extend the shelf life of produce, and increase farmers' incomes. The project also contributes to environmental sustainability by promoting the use of renewable energy and reducing CO2 emissions

The company serves smallholder farmers and works closely with NGOs and government organizations. Ndkay has a history of receiving grants and is currently seeking additional funding to support its expansion and operational needs.
