Kakuma Sandbox
An Incubator in the Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya
as an important part of the Central Africa Sustainable Investment Spark Program, the Kakuma Refugee Camp Sandbox Incubation Project in Kenya will solicit business plans from micro and small enterprises both inside and outside the refugee camp.
Bonpop
A revolutionary initiative by Odysseus, transforming lives in Kenya through the power of popsicles and clean energy.
In Kenya, we collaborate with the Office of the First Lady of Kenya, the NGO Resilience Assistance International in Kakuma Refugee Camp, and local popsicle manufacturers to address issues of energy accessibility, promote small business development, and create employment opportunities. Our main goal is to provide 3,000 energy kits related to freezing, cooking, and agricultural irrigation in refugee camps, and to create 10,000 jobs within a year.
The core of the Bonpop project lies in using clean energy technology to provide sustainable livelihoods for local communities. By providing solar-powered freezing equipment, we support local popsicle vendors and create opportunities for refugees to establish small and micro-enterprises and direct employment. We also use an innovative pay-as-you-go system combined with M-Pesa technology to ensure that vendors can repay the energy kit with a portion of their daily sales. In just two years, the vendor will fully own the kit, unlocking even greater earning potential.
